“We’re not right out of it”: Port to welcome back Gray for “massive” Eagles bout

Experienced Port Adelaide duo Robbie Gray and Alipate Carlile are likely to return from injury for Saturday’s match against in-form West Coast.

Full-back Carlile has missed six games because of a broken wrist but returned in state league ranks last weekend while Gray has been sidelined for three matches by a hamstring strain.

Port utility Jackson Trengove says their likely returns offer some much-needed experience to a Power side still coming to terms with Sunday’s two-point loss to Carlton.

“It’s going to be massive,” Trengove told reporters yesterday.

“Just that little bit of experience we probably lacked (against Carlton), just with being composed with the footy and decision-making.

“Robbie in the midfield, (long-term injured) Jay Schulz up forward and Alipate are who we’re missing as side, they just bring that experience and composure.

“It’s going to be exciting to have Robbie back … Alipate is a quality player, he’s got experience, he knows how to use his body so he’ll definitely be in the eyesight of (coach Ken Hinkley) and the selection team.”

Port blew a three-goal lead with 10 minutes remaining against the Blues, leaving the club with four wins and four losses in an inconsistent season.

“It’s a little bit frustrating for us,” Trengove said.

“We can’t just put that finger on one spot and just fix it up.

“We are four-and-four so we’re not right out of it. We have just got to try and get back to our best footy so we can produce every week-in, week-out.”
