The Australian women’s national soccer team will take on China at Adelaide Oval on Friday, May 31.

It will be the first time the Matildas have played in Adelaide since 2019, when they played at Hindmarsh Stadium.

Premier Peter Malinauskas said that coming after their success at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Matildas were “the hottest ticket in the country, so this is a significant coup for our state”

The CommBank Matildas have packed stadiums in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane and now it is South Australia’s turn to host them at our world class Adelaide Oval,” he said.

“This will be one of the last opportunities for fans to see the CommBank Matildas play before the Olympics, so I’d encourage everyone to book their tickets fast because they will be in high demand.”

Malinauskas this morning would not reveal how much the sporting coup had cost taxpayers, citing Football Australia confidentiality terms.

Tickets for the game will go on sale on March 8 for fans with a Football Australia account, with a general release for the public on March 12.
