Commenting on the story: First look at latest Festival Centre upgrade

Cannot see where we are getting anything worthwhile from this “upgrade”. It just means yet more annoying inconvenience for theatregoers and other visitors after so many previous similar obstructive contract works. – John Lewis

The minister is quick to point to the omission of safety upgrades by the Liberal Government, however the Weatherill Labor Government organised and commenced the last upgrade. Perhaps the contract did not allow alterations, perhaps the regulations changed?

Always blaming a predecessor seems to be de rigeur for politicians and journalists must bear some responsibility. – Elizabeth Keam

My, what a wonderful frying pan they have (re)created. Has anyone noticed that Adelaide is a hot city in summer? The ‘Greening Adelaide’ project should include the Festival Centre and its blazing hot forecourts.

Some plane trees in deep pots would do wonders, plus perhaps some artificial turf to soften the concrete underneath. How about a climbing plant green wall over the Festival buildings too?

Get with it. Hot Adelaide will get hotter with climate change. – Robert Warn

Commenting on the opinion piece: The world has lost a dissenting voice

A great journalist. Loved his works and docos. Yes, the world has lost a a brilliant dissenter. Hopefully now someone of Mr Pilger’s magnitude could get on board and advocate for Julian Assange’s release and return to Australia. Shame on the current government for not doing it. – James Baker
