Commenting on the story: New WCH legislation clears parliament

The concept of the new WCH is perfectly sound, but there are numerous other sites within close proximity of the new RAH that could have been selected for it.

The callous disregard shown for existing heritage legislation and park lands protection is appalling. I believe this decision is a shocking misuse of the parliamentary process and one that has set a dangerous precedent. – Katrina Lister

What wonderful news for the future of our women and children. The new WCH Bill has established the clear imperative and framework for a world class enlarged hospital for the future, located on the only medically feasible site adjacent to the RAH.

The Visigoths and Philistines who opposed this plan out of ignorance and political connivance have been repulsed and must now join the rest of the community in supporting this essential and overdue hospital development. – Warren Jones

Commenting on Your views: on a SA nuclear waste site and population growth

On the world population issue, the ‘developing world’ is struggling to manage more challenging circumstances and needs more support from the developed world to improve the welfare of it’s citizens; this support should be both financial and technical, in partnership.

One aspect of this should be respectful support for population management policies that allow better education on birth control for men and women and provision of the necessary materials for that. There is a high level of awareness in most developing countries (and my experience is in Africa) of the importance of having the number of children that a family can support in difficult economic times. – Geoffrey Gaskell
