Bedford, Australia’s second largest employer of people with disability, is on a journey to transform the sector.
CEO Myron Mann said the organisation is working to create more choice in jobs, training and career pathways for employees via its own social enterprises.
This includes pathways to the open employment market for those who want to make the move.
He said these opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities are extremely limited – for now.
“I’m sure over the long term, disability will be become integrated with society in general.”
Launched in 2023, Bedford’s Gala event is the group’s flagship fundraising event.
“We were thrilled with [last year’s] ticket sales and participation… the night was a huge success,” Mann said.
“I don’t know how many people came up to me that night to tell me how much they personally enjoyed the Gala and how much they learned about what Bedford does.”
This year’s Gala will be held on Saturday, 4 May at the Adelaide Convention Centre, offering guests a 3-course dinner, drinks package and wonderful evening of entertainment.

Mann said the night’s theme, Beyond Imagination, is more than just a theme.
“It’s a reflection of Bedford’s ongoing commitment to innovate and transform,” he said.
“This Gala is an invitation to join us on our exciting journey and have a fantastic night out.”
