Sims Limited – a world-leading sustainability company – has appointed Warrick Ranson as Group Chief Financial Officer effective 4 December 2024.

Ranson joins the company from OzMinerals Limited where he served as Chief Financial Officer for the past six years.

He spent almost two decades with Rio Tinto in roles including Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Iron Ore and Head of Productivity Development.

He is a Non-Exective Director of the industrial material provider Korvest Limited and is a Member of the Finance, Audit and Compliance Committee for Surf Life Saving Australia.

Boart Longyear Group Ltd – the world’s leading provider of drilling services – has appointed Chief Operating Officer Denis Despres to the additional role of Chief Executive Officer of Drilling Services.

Despres joined the company in 1981 and held various positions in the company’s drilling services and products divisions over the next 26 years in roles including Senior Vice President of Drilling Services.

In 2007, Despres stepped down from Boart Longyear to found his own drilling business which then was acquired by Major Drilling in 2010.

Despres served as Major Drilling’s Chief Operating Officer before rejoining Boart Longyear and becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2016.

Evyenia Walton has been appointed Partner with Lynch Meyer Lawyers to head the firm’s commercial practice.

Walton joins the firm from DW Fox Tucker Lawyers where she was Special Counsel.

She is the former Managing Director of the legal practice Interpret Legal and was a Lawyer with DLA Phillips Fox.

Walton has served as Legal Counsel for both the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide.

An internationally-renowned pharmaceuticals and healthcare executive has been appointed to the Hospital Research Foundation Group board.

Colin La Galia, the current managing director of WA-based Neurospine Institute, brings expertise in business development, sales, marketing and commercial strategy to the position.

He has almost three decades of leadership experience at Abbott, Alere, GSK, MSD, Hollywood IVF, Epichem and InstaMed.

In addition to this latest appointment, La Galia sits on the board of governors of Spinnaker Health Research Foundation.

Adelaide and Nevada-based climate technology company CH4 Global (CH4) has appointed Steve Chun as Chief Financial Officer.

Chun joins the company from SHC Capital where he was Managing Director.

He is the former Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Co-Founder of the construction engineering company DEPCOM Power where he worked from 2013 to 2023.

He previously worked as a Consultant for PeopleSoft and Accenture.

Elisabeth Marie has stepped down from her role as a journalist for Solstice Media, the parent company of InDailyCityMag and SALIFE.

She is relocating to Sydney to join Australian Geographic as a journalist and social media producer.
