SA’s top 100 companies: the countdown begins
Today we reveal the first group of top 100 companies from this year’s SA Business Index list. Numbers 100 through to 81 include a diverse mix of food producers, IT, energy, construction and engineering businesses and even real estate companies.
Now in its second year, the Index has been compiled with the expert help of Adelaide financial services company Taylor Collison.
Ranking is based on market capitalisation.
Companies were considered eligible for the list if they had a South Australian head office, with an Adelaide share registry, or SA operated, founded and majority-owned by South Australians. Qualifying companies could not be government-run, agencies of government or a registered charity.
The countdown will continue tomorrow, with the full list to be published by InDaily on Thursday, to coincide with the announcement at the SA Business Index lunch at the Convention Centre on Thursday (limited tickets are still available – scroll to the bottom for booking details).
The list has some interesting inclusions, not least of which is Leigh Creek Energy, which is hoping to bring new economic life to the abandoned coal pit in the far north town. Also on the list are some of SA’s favourite food companies, among heavy industry companies and service providers.
The SA Business Index 100-81: An adjustment has been made to the list to reflect an error in calculations for MGA & Whittles Group of Companies.
