Police and emergency services were called to a tobacco shop on Hampstead Road at 4:45 am Friday after reports of a fire in front of the building.

The blaze was extinguished by MFS crews, and the building was not damaged.

The remains of a Molotov cocktail were found at the scene, along with a crowbar.

It comes the day after a Torrensville property, reported to be a shisha business, was set alight at 3 am on Thursday in a blaze believed to be caused by a Molotov cocktail.

Police are investigating a series of recent arson attacks as part of a special operation.

“Operation Eclipse has been focussed for some time on offences including arson, assault, extortion and money laundering linked to the illegal activity around tobacco,” said Serious and Organised Crime Branch detective Superintendent Shane Addison.
