Albanese will deliver the 16th annual Oration, at Adelaide University’s Bonython Hall on May 29.
The Oration honours Aboriginal leader Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue and aims to highlight issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is presented by the Don Dunstan Foundation in collaboration with Reconciliation SA, Adelaide and Flinders universities, the Lowitja Institute and the Lowitja O’Donoghue Foundation.
Lord Mayor and Don Dunstan Foundation chair Dr Jane Lomax-Smith it was an honour to host the Prime Minister.
“The Oration gives voice to issues of equity and equality for Australia’s first peoples and right now, that is more important and pertinent than ever,” Lomax-Smith said.
“In a few months, Australians will vote in a referendum to change the future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people now, and for generations to come.
“This is an opportunity for people from a range of backgrounds to hear directly from the Prime Minister why a yes vote will advance reconciliation and close the gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people across the country.”
