Man arrested in connection with Trevor King death

A 44-year-old man from Hallett Cove will today appear in Christies Beach Court facing charges in connection with the unlawful detention and aggravated assault of Trevor King.

King’s body was found in water at West Lakes on January 4, 2020.

His death was initially determined as suicide or misadventure but police now believe it to be drug related.

A toxicology report later indicated a high level of GHB (fantasy) in his system to a degree that would have rendered him unconscious, potentially causing his death.

The development follows a cold case review of the investigation known as Task Force Southern.

The charges relate to a “violent and prolonged assault” police will allege occurred on February 5, 2019 at North Plympton.

Police previously said King was assaulted with a baseball bat, had the back of his hands, his back and the hair on his head burnt with a blow torch and had his feet cut with scalpels and doused with bleach.

The arrested man and three other suspects were originally charged with offences in early 2019 however they were withdrawn in September of that year.

Police now anticipate further arrests will be made.

Detectives continue to investigate King’s death, along with the suspected murders of Robert Atkins who disappeared in November, 2020 and Jeffrey Mundy who disappeared in December, 2020.
