Motorcyclist dies in collision at Salisbury South

A 25-year-old motorcyclist has died after colliding with a car in the northern suburbs, marking the state’s 13th motorcyclist fatality for the year.

Police say that the collision occurred at the junction of Main North and Frost Roads just before 9pm last night.

The man from Elizabeth Vale died at the scene despite police officers performing CPR.

The car driver, a 23-year-old Greenwith woman, was not injured.

Major Crash investigators attended and examined the scene overnight.

Main North Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The death lifts the road toll to 70 compared with 99 for the same time last year.

On Tuesday, two teenagers died when a car hit a tree on the Augusta Highway near Lochiel in the mid-north.

The 19-year-old male driver and a 17-year-old girl, both from Port Pirie, died at the scene. A 46-year-old Port Pirie man was flown to Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.
