SA Health said on Saturday that new cases included 206 children and 125 teenagers.
Since the Marshall Government opened state borders on November 23 there have been 12,257 new cases.
There have been eight COVID-positive deaths overall and there are 10,821 people in home quarantine, according to SA Health figures.
The virus is also appearing in vulnerable communities and prisons.
Premier Steven Marshall said today that a worker at a Port Augusta clinic was found to have the virus after increased detections in waste water.
Three residents at the clinic have also turned positive.
“All of those people will be designated as close contacts. We believe there could be between 30 and 50,” Marshall told reporters on Saturday.
“We’re rushing to try to get that very vulnerable community into the appropriate setting so that we can continue to care for them.”
Thirty-six inmates at three prisons – Mobilong, Adelaide Women’s and Adelaide Pre-Release – have the virus.
“We are putting plans in place to make sure we can manage this in the best-practice way,” Marshall said.
The state processed 23,790 tests on Friday.
SA Health said that a woman in her 90s and a man in his 80s who tested positive for COVID-19 died yesterday, with their deaths being referred to the Coroner.
The State Government also yesterday unveiled a business support package offering up to $22,000 for businesses hit by new restrictions as authorities try to stem the spread of Omicron.
