An Italian-style fine-dining institution has closed this month after more than a decade of operation on Grote Street.

Notice was given at a general meeting of the members of the company – La Cucina Adelaide Pty Ltd, which trades as Auge Ristorante – on  January 9, 2015, that the company would be wound up.

Mark Lieberenz and Andrew Heard from Heard Phillips Chartered Accountants were appointed as liquidators.

Auge’s website states that it would be closed for Christmas and would re-open on January 14.

“It would appear that they had ceased trading prior to the holiday and won’t recommence operation in January,” Lieberenz told InDaily.

“We are currently investigating the affairs of the company and will report to creditors and notify employees.”

Auge was owned and managed by Adelaide restaurateur Terry Tsoukoulis, 41, who purchased the business from his business partner Eugene Maiale in 2003.

Tsoukoulis led Auge and its team to win 19 major awards, including winner of Best Italian in SA, eight times and entry into the Restaurant Catering SA Awards for Excellence Hall of Fame in 2012, and The Gourmet Traveller Top 100 Restaurants in 2013.

Tsoukoulis was not available for comment.
