Adelaide doing things differently in new wine video

The quirky and unassuming side of Adelaide is uncovered by pioneering winemaker Justin Lane in a short film released last week by the South Australian Tourism Commission.

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell says the video is the second clip to be released since Lonely Planet named Adelaide as a ‘Top Ten City’ to visit in 2014.

“The video focusses on local wine maker Justin Lane, who is behind McLaren Vale cellar door Alpha Box & Dice, and his popular venture in the city, Cantina Sociale,” he says.

“It illustrates a sophisticated and cultured side of Adelaide, and complements the first video featuring DJ Minx which explored Adelaide’s music and nightlife scene.”

Justin explains in the video why he loves making wine in McLaren Vale, and why he’s settled in Adelaide.

“There’s a great camaraderie among Adelaide people,” says Justin.

“People work together – chefs share recipes, winemakers loan each other equipment, and bar owners hang out in each other’s venues. Everyone seems keen to endorse each other and support each other.

“Good change doesn’t come easy. You need to commit and surrender yourself to it. This city’s heading down a new path – let’s see where it takes us.”

Minister Bignell says South Australian wine is a big draw card for international visitors, and he expects this video to be well received by international audiences.

“We know growing markets like China are particularly drawn to South Australia’s quality wine,” he says.

“To have some understanding of the characters behind our wine, and the journey from the vineyard to the glass is very informative for people who aren’t from South Australia.”
