Flinders Ranges – A Brush with Art

Allow your creativity to bubble up at “A Brush with Art” currently taking place in 13 towns closely located across the Flinders Ranges until October 7. Be awed by larger than life portrait paintings; a signwriter goes wild with abstract forms and there’s contemporary watercolours by new and established artists living in and inspired by the region.

The arid Flinders Ranges have long inspired artists, filmmakers and musicians travelling through the region to take in the rich colours, friendly mood, peace and timelessness in this rocky, ancient place.

It all started in 2004 when an art-trail linked galleries already showing works. Now A Brush with Art has become the regions’ premier art event and is growing every year. This year the event includes 13 exhibitions of both solo shows and group exhibitions, with works on sale, but be quick! Works sell fast. Originally, participating artists were a mixture of local and Adelaide residents but in recent years local artists have emerged and now confidently exhibit their talents in this smorgasbord of regional artistic display.

Make a Brush with Art a brush with adventure; a perfect theme for a group of friends to travel in the region, and take in one or all of the exhibitions being held in small country towns from Jamestown up to Wilpena Pound. Each town has its own unique attractions and it’s easy to explore a few exhibitions a day.
