Scholarship to support superannuation study

Elise Nisbet, an Honours candidate in the Bachelor of Commerce (Finance)/Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice combined degree, is one of four recipients of the 2013 Brian Gray Scholarship.

Established by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and the Reserve Bank of Australia, up to four Brian Gray Scholarships – each valued at $15,000 – are awarded annually. The aim of the scholarship is to support students who intend to focus full-time on their studies and research.

Ms Nisbet’s research examines the influence of board structure on the performance and governance framework of superannuation focusing, in particular, on whether there is any influence of board structure on the performance and governance of APRA Registered Retail and Industry Superannuation funds.

Flinders Business School PhD student Ms Yen Bui was awarded a Brian Gray Scholarship last year for her research towards developing a metric for assessing the efficiency of Australian superannuation funds.
