In its ninth year, InDaily’s South Australian Business Index is an independent ranking of the state’s top 100 companies by partner Taylor Collison.
Each year SA’s business community meet at the lunch and networking event to discover how the make-up of the Index has changed over the 12 months and discuss what it reveals about the state’s economic future.
The 2023 event will be held on Friday, October 20 at the Adelaide Convention Centre from noon.
Tickets sales opened this week, with a 10 per cent discount on offer for purchases before the end of the financial year on June 30.
Last year’s South Australian Business Index revealed the state had tracked well against global benchmarks, due in part to growing international and domestic demand, plus price growth globally in sectors such as energy, agriculture, food and mining.
InDaily editor David Washington said this year could see a shakeup in the middle rankings, beyond the jostling of the top 20.
“The SA Business Index provides a unique snapshot of the state’s economy and this year’s data will be watched closely,” Washington said.
“As the Reserve Bank has noted, the national economy is facing challenges of higher interest rates, increased cost of living and declines in household wealth.
“It will be revealing to see how these challenges have been navigated by South Australia’s top 100 companies over the past 12 months.
“Only the SA Business Index provides this picture, with trend data now available over the best part of a decade.”
The 2023 SA Business Index will once again include a separate list of South Australia’s not-for-profit companies.
The role of not-for-profit organisations in the community fabric of the state is considerable, with the sector spanning service providers in aged care, disability services, housing, youth, training, research and health care providers.
As well, not-for-profits are very significant employers and drivers of economic activity, as last year’s list shows.
