Radio Ratings: Mix fights back but no change to breakfast leader
Mix 102.3 has resumed its place at the top of the overall rankings of Adelaide radio stations, but the latest survey does little to stop an impressive run from the breakfast leader.

A seemingly never-ending spree of number-one rankings for Triple M’s perennial breakfast leaders Mark Ricciuto, Laura O’Callaghan and Chris Dittmar continued in the sixth GfK radio ratings survey of the year.
The trio topped the breakfast ladder for the period that covered 7 July to 14 September and regained some lost listeners to boast 13 per cent of the total breakfast audience in Adelaide.
Ricciuto, Dittmar and O’Callaghan first stunned Adelaide with their sudden dominance of breakfast airwaves back in April 2023. They’ve sat on top for 13 surveys in a row now.
Triple M came in well above ABC Radio Adelaide’s breakfast show, hosted by Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller. The duo landed the second spot, but lost 0.2 percentage points on the previous survey to secure 11.4 per cent of total breakfast listeners.
FIVEaa maintained its listenership and third-place position in the breakfast timeslot, as did Nova 91.9 in fourth.
Max Burford and Ali Clarke at Mix 102.3 remain in fifth place with 9.6 per cent of the total audience share, but their station has surged into the top spot overall – knocking Triple M off the top of the ladder where it sat for the past three surveys.

Mix 10.3 enjoyed an impressive 1.3 percentage point gain overall in the sixth survey, pushing it from second to first. Meanwhile, Triple M lost half a percentage point and dropped into second place.
It was followed by Nova 91.9 (11.2 per cent of overall listeners), SAFM (8.6 per cent), FIVEaa (7.8 per cent) and Cruise (7.8 per cent).
In last place was ABC Radio Adelaide which lost 0.4 percentage points in the latest survey. Its largest demographic loss was in the 55-64 age range where it lost 2.8 per cent of listeners compared to the last survey.
It is still the most popular station for those aged 65 and older, but even that demographic has slipped away for the local arm of the national broadcaster – down 1.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, Mix 102.3 picked up 1 per cent in the 65-plus bracket.
More than 20 per cent of listeners in the teenage, 18 to 24 and 25 to 39-year-old demographics are tuning into Nova 91.9. Triple M picked up the top spot for those aged 40 to 54, while Mix 102.3 is the station of choice for Adelaide listeners aged 55 to 64.
By session, the morning timeslot (9am-midday) was won by Mix 102.3, which continued to dominate into the afternoon period (midday-4pm).
Leith Forrest’s FIVEaa show is by far the most popular program on Adelaide airwaves in the 7pm-12am timeslot with 16 per cent of total audience share, and on the weekends Mix 102.3 is the top station.
