Bickley, who led the Crows to their only two flags, has since forged a long media career, first presenting sport for Channel 9 in Adelaide and then as co-host of the afternoon drive shift on FIVEaa, alongside fellow former Crow Stephen Rowe.

Bickley’s contract has not been renewed for next year but he will remain on-air until his current deal expires.

InDaily has sought details from FIVEaa, with station manager Craig Munn declining to comment.

It appears likely Rowe will continue to occupy the afternoon chair on his own next year.

It comes amid a spate of cuts by the station’s owner NOVA Entertainment, with jobs affected across both FIVEaa and Nova 919 as the company deals with the economic fallout from COVID-19.

Bickley’s fellow broadcaster Jarrod Walsh this week posted an emotional YouTube address revealing he had been made redundant “after 16 years at Nova Entertainment”.

“I am so grateful for my time at Nova Entertainment, and the company has been brilliant to me on my journey… I am grateful for you taking a chance on this guy from Adelaide, and being so kind to me through this time,” he wrote in the online post.

LIFE UPDATE:

I have sadly been made redundant from Nova and FiveAA.

I wanted to share my feelings as they are still really raw and if you’ve gone through this, we can share the journey.

It’s on my FB Page and Below.

Thank you for believing in me ❤️https://t.co/pFRqsd60Am

“People remember how you leave a business, not start – and I am not going to let one challenge define what has been an incredible ride… it’s not the challenge that matters, it’s how you tackle it.”

Clarification: When this story was first published, it read that Bickley had confirmed to InDaily that his contract had not been renewed. While InDaily has since contacted him, this paragraph was initially published in error, for which we apologise.
