InDaily rockets up the nation’s news website rankings

South Australian-owned InDaily has climbed the official rankings for Australian news websites, making the top 25 in June.

The Nielsen rankings, which measure readership of Australia’s top news websites, had InDaily at number 45 a year ago, but the site, owned by Adelaide-headquartered Solstice Media, has been steadily climbing.

In January, InDaily had reached 34, with a surge of readership during the pandemic seeing the site hit the number 25 spot last month, ahead of capital city titles such as the NT News, the Hobart Mercury and Geelong Advertiser.

InDaily is now only five spots behind number 20-ranked The Advertiser – for many years the monopoly newspaper in Adelaide.

“We’re really gratified by the support of our long-term loyal readers, who have now been joined by thousands more South Australians who are discovering independent media in Adelaide,” said InDaily editor David Washington.

“A few years ago we were ranked outside the top 100 and, while numbers aren’t everything, the trajectory in our Nielsen performance shows there’s a real desire in the SA community for strong, local and independent journalism.”
