Experienced lawyer joins the Magistrate Court

Tracee Micallef has been appointed as a Magistrate in the Adelaide Magistrates Court, where she will work primarily in the Youth Court.

Micallef has over 20 years of experience in the legal profession, working in private practices as a barrister and solicitor specialising in criminal law, family law, environment guardianship and care and protection matters.

She is also currently a member of the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Multinational professional services firm adds a new partner

RSM Australia has expanded its South Australian Assurance and Advisory division with the appointment of Michael George as Partner.

George has more than 15 years of experience delivering audit and assurance services to large private businesses and ASX-listed multinational businesses.

He has been at the multinational professional services partnership Ernst and Young for the past decade, where he held the roles of Director, Senior Manager and Manager.

George’s appointment brings the total number of Partners at RSM Australia to 139.

RSM Australia is part of the multinational professional services firm RSM, which has over 64,000 employees globally.

Mining for gold

Power Minerals Limited has announced the appointment of Jay Stephenson as Company Secretary following the resignation of Pamela Sayers.

He is currently Company Secretary for several ASX-listed resource and industrial companies.

He is also the Director of Forest House Accountants and Advisors, as well as Chair of Abarta Resources Limited, Stonehorse Energy Limited and Dragon Mountain Gold Limited.

Stephenson has been involved in business development for over 30 years and has close to 26 years of experience as a Director, Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary in the resources, manufacturing, IT, nutraceuticals, wine, hotels and property industries.

Chief Executive Officer for MADEC Australia, a successful community-owned not-for-profit based in Mildura delivering services in employment, education and training, harvest trail, labour mobility and indigenous programs. 

Philanthropy Manager, a part-time donor relations role for the award-winning and highly successful Adelaide Film Festival.

Finance Manager, leading a small service-focused team in an important and diverse community-facing entity located circa one hour north of the Adelaide CBD.

Stevie-Ann Dovico has joined Beyond Bank as Chief Information Officer, leading the bank’s national technology team.

Dovico has worked for over 17 years in banking and financial services and most recently held the role of Executive Digital, Customer & Colleague at NAB.

Beyond Bank was founded over 60 years ago and, according to its website, “is one of the largest, 100 per cent owned mutual banks in the country with credit union heritage”.

Sparc Technologies Limited has announced several changes to its Board of Directors.

Following the appointment of Nick O’Loughlin to Managing Director in January, Stephen Hunt has transitioned from Executive to Non-Executive Chairperson.

In addition, Adrien Wing has stepped down as Non-Executive Director.

Sparc is a South Australian-based company with offices in Australia, Europe and North America. The company says that it aims to develop and commercialise sustainable technology.

Research institute expands to South Australia

Dr Gemma Beale has been appointed as Executive Director SA/NT of the newly established branch of the McKell Institute, which Premier Malinauskas launched on March 27.

Before joining the McKell Institute, Beale held various roles at the Australian Industrial Transformation Institute.

Among her numerous other roles, she was Co-Founder of The Mary Lee Exchange – a public forum for women and gender-diverse people.

The McKell Institute says it is a progressive research institute. It was launched in 2012 and named after former New South Wales Premier and Governor-General of Australia William McKell.
