Pub-tastic news for Duxton Pubs

Duxton Pubs have announced the appointment of Mark Condi as new CEO.

Condi was previously the Group General Manager – Commercial at hospitality group Merivale and before this, CEO of Bankstown District Sports Club.

Duxton Pubs was founded in 2020 and now owns over 20 venues across SA, including the Cremorne Hotel in Unley, the Lion Hotel in North Adelaide, Saracens Head in the CBD and the Swanport Hotel in Murray Bridge.

In 2022, Duxton Pubs also acquired the Stepney-based brewer Little Bang Brewing Co.

Debt-ridden council finally finds a temporary CEO

Scott Reardon is to take on the role of Acting CEO of the District Council of Coober Pedy for the next six months. He will start on March 4, 2024.

Reardon has 15 years of experience in senior leadership and change management roles in Local Government.

For the past four and a half years, Reardon has been in various roles with the Town of Walkerville, including most recently as Group Manager Strategy, Governance & Compliance and also Acting CEO.

Prior to this, Reardon worked at the City of Holdfast Bay for over eight years, where he held several roles including Manager Property & Public Realm and Team Leader, Leasing & Commercial Operations.

As previously reported in InDaily, the beleaguered Coober Pedy council has been suspended since 2019 when then Local Government Minister Stephan Knoll replaced elected members with an administrator. This followed an Ombudsman’s report in July 2018 that found that the Council had committed serious maladministration by signing onto an $198 million power purchase agreement with Energy Generation Pty Ltd without a competitive tender process.

Cooper Pedy Council has been suspended until November 2026 and has been looking for a new CEO since October 2023

The Sony Foundation expands in SA and NT

The Sony Foundation has appointed Rachel Atkins as Chair of the South Australian Fundraising Committee, as the organisation looks to extend its charity work to South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Atkins is currently a Brand Consultant at Seafront Group, a Marketing Manager at The Cliffs Kangaroo Island and Owner and Sales and Marketing Director at Fox Gordon Wines.

She also worked as a Key Account Manager at Fox Finance Brokers from 1994-2006.

The Sony Foundation was established in 1999 as the charity arm of the Sony Group of Companies in Australia. It said it has raised over $42 million for youth-related causes in Australia throughout its existence.

New leadership at video game developer Mighty Kingdom

Video game developer Mighty Kingdom has appointed Katelyn Adams to the role of Company Secretary following the resignation of Kaitlin Smith.

Adams is a Partner with Dulwich-based financial consultants HLB Mann Judd and has 15 years of accounting and company secretarial experience.

Adams is currently Non-Executive Director of Clean Seas Seafood and Company Secretary at numerous companies including Duxton Water, Duxton Farms, Highfield Resources, 1414 Degrees and Petratherm.

Last month, InDaily reported that Mighty Kingdom leadership team would remain after the company’s largest shareholder, Shane Yeend, attempted to oust them.

New appointments at Whitebark Energy

Adam Stepanoff has been appointed as General Manager at Whitebark Energy Limited, while Christine Le Billon has taken on the role of Head of Business Services.

Stepanoff is an operational optimisation specialist and was previously CEO at Georgen Pty Ltd and Within Energy Pty Ltd.

He was also an Operations Asset Manager for AGL’s Upstream Gas division.

Le Billon has over fifteen years of experience in environmental and regulatory compliance in the resources and renewable energy sectors. She was previously Head of Approvals and Compliance at Within Energy Pty Ltd.

Whitebark announced late last year that it would focus on the development of its Warro Gas Project and evaluating its geothermal potential.

New Director at NeuRizer

Jordan Mehrtens has recently started as a non-executive Director of the Company at NeuRizer Ltd.

Mehrtens has been the Company Secretary at NeuRizer for the past nine years.

Mehrtens graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice from Flinders University in 2011. She also completed a Graduate Diploma of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of South Australia in 2012.

NeuRizer previously announced in January that Marketing Director Phil Staveley had been made redundant after the company axed the position.

The Beautiful Game

Varatha Rajan (Raj) Subramaniam has joined the South Australian Amateur Soccer League as Competitions Manager, commencing on February 19.

Subramaniam has more than 20 years of experience as a sports administrator and coach and has a Bachelor of Sports Science (Hons) from Loughborough University in England.

Before immigrating to Australia, he was General Manager at the Youth Development Football Association of Singapore, Senior General Manager of the Football Academy at the Singapore Sports School and Head of Physical Education at Assumption Pathway School in Singapore.

The South Australian Amateur Soccer League serves 81 clubs with 240 teams across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia.

New Associate joins North Tce law firm

Commercial law firm NDA Law has announced the appointment of Ollie Fragnito as a new Associate, where he will support the firm’s tax and estate planning areas.

Before joining NDA Law, Fragnito worked as a Lawyer at Hall & Wilcox and a Solicitor at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, among other positions.
