Elders retains CEO after international search

Agricultural business Elders Limited has announced that Mark Allison will continue as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer after an international search.

Allison, who was going to retire, was invited by Elders’ Board of Directors to continue in the role he has held for almost a decade.

Elders’ Chair Ian Wilton said this is an ideal outcome for Elders, its customers, employees and shareholders and that the current CEO succession program will continue to focus on developing suitable future candidates.

Allison joined Elders in 2014 from Grain Growers Limited where he was Executive Director.

He has previously held roles as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Jeminex Limited, Farmoz Pty Ltd and Wesfarmers.

On board for a greener Adelaide

Established by the Government of South Australia in 2020, the urban environmental specialist organisation Green Adelaide has appointed four new Members to its Board.

Tiahni Adamson is a community engagement specialist, a Lecturer at the University of South Australia and the Lead Community Engagement Officer for CO2 reduction company, CH4Global.

Trees For Life SA’s Chief Executive Officer, Natasha Davis joins the Board with over a decade of experience in sustainability.

Outgoing Nature Play SA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Sutter is also a Trainer at Be Well Co and previously served as a Board Member at Guide Dogs SA/NT.

Melanie Ford is a Senior Architect for the Office for Design and Architecture SA and has previously worked for Troppo Architects, Jackman Gooden Architects and Hully Liveris Design Company. 

In addition to the new appointments, current Board Member and Aboriginal Cultural Consultant and Youth Ambassador Tobias Turner has been reappointed.

Outgoing Board Members Felicity-Anne LewisKelvin TrimperGreg Ingleton and Louka Parry will complete their tenure at the end of June.

Business SA acquires new GM

Business SA, South Australia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has appointed Douglas Parr as General Manager of Marketing, Events and Communications.

Parr joins Business SA from the RAA where he was employed for 14 years in roles as General Manager of Secure Services, General Manager of Marketing, Product and Retail Sales and, most recently, General Manager of Marketing, Digital and Business Development.

He worked in sales and marketing at the former Edinburgh brewing company, Scottish & Newcastle and, as a member of their executive team, held the role of Market Manager for The Coca-Cola Company.

Joining an award-winning team

Miriam Whitford has been appointed General Manager of al.ive body, the personal care product manufacturing company owned and operated by 40 Under 40 Alumna and winner of the First Among Equals award, Alisa Fraser.

Whitford joined al.ive body after ten years as an independent strategic consultant running Whitford Thinking.

She was previously Head of Clients and Marketing for the law firm MinterEllison SA/NT and was Head of Marketing at the South Australian Motor Sport Board managing the Adelaide 500’s marketing, communications and community engagement program.

Climbing the ladder

Recruitment company Harrison McMillan has promoted two key team members.

Stephanie Pollard has been appointed Head of Operations from her role as Contracting Recruitment Manager.

Pollard joined the company in 2022 as Contracting Lead from Jobs Statewide where she was Senior Regional Manager.

Chris Lillas has been promoted to Director of Recruitment Services.

Lillas has worked in recruitment since 1994, holding positions with Speakman Stillwell & Associates, Management Recruiters Australia and James Gall & Associates.

He was Director of Lillas Harrison Executive Search + Recruitment for ten years before joining Harrison McMillan as General Manager in 2020.

Advising Zoos SA

Business Advisor Eoin Loftus has been appointed as a Board Member for Zoos South Australia.

Loftus currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors for the South Australian Tourism Commission and as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Tourism Industry Council of South Australia.

He is the former Chief Executive Officer of Majestic Hotels where he was employed for almost three decades.
