Train services back on track but there’s another strike tomorrow

Adelaide passenger trains are running again after a drivers’ strike this morning, but commuters are warned of another stoppage tomorrow – the third in under a week.

Rai,, Tram and Bus Union members walked off the job today from 6am until 9am, forcing commuters to find alternative transport or hastily arranged skeleton bus services.

Train drivers have returned to work but the Transport Department said it had been told that another strike will be held from 4pm to 6pm on Wednesday, with services expected to be affected outside that time.

Drivers also held a four hour strike last Thursday, in pursuit of demands for a 20 per cent pay rise over four years.

Private operator Keolis Downer has offered drivers a 14.7 per cent over four years.

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union said that it had been forced to strike again as Keolis Downer had not improved its offer.
