Parliament will be recalled for a one-day sitting on Friday next week to hear an address from US President Barack Obama. Mr Obama's visit to Australia has been delayed because of wrangling between the White House and Congress over the president's planned healthcare reforms. Parliament initially was due to sit on Monday and Tuesday of next week - a scheduled non-sitting week - to accommodate Mr Obama's visit. Now it is expected to sit for one day only on March 26. Mr Obama's 24-hour visit will be contained to Canberra, and include a meeting with Governor- General Quentin Bryce as well as a range of events to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Australia- US alliance. - AAP HENDRIK GOUT URANIUM MINING The environment has taken a back place in the election, but now comes the news that SA scientists are convinced uranium mining in the Flinders Ranges will cause species extinction.
