BUSINESS The defeated scheme is expected to be reintroduced by the government in an altered form but grocery retailers are warning that it could see prices rise by as much as seven per cent. In a decision welcomed by the Opposition, Climate Change Minister Penny Wong confirmed yesterday the Government will remove industry uncertainty by breaking the link between the defeated scheme and legislation for a 20 per cent renewable energy target in the electricity industry by 2020. The target legislation is now likely to be passed this week. Australian Retailers Association executive director Russell Zimmerman said the ETS would hurt consumers in the long run.
